Skjaldborgarhátíðin

The 10th  annual Icelandic documentary film festival, Skjaldborg will take place over the Pentecost holiday weekend from May 13 – 16 in the small seaside town of Patreksfjörður.

Named after the historic local theater the festival features new and interesting Icelandic documentaries by upcoming filmmakers and veterans alike, and reaches its peak with the audience choice awards for best documentary.

The Skjaldborg festival provides filmmakers and documentary enthusiasts with an opportunity and a forum to discuss and enjoy what the rich and flourishing documentary filmmaking industry in Iceland has to offer. In a time when documentaries struggle with limited acces to television and movie theaters, Skjaldborg presents a selection of movies, long, short, weird, cheap and expensive, which otherwise would not reach the wider public.
